With the HDW Class 212CD (CD = Common Design) the Royal Norwegian and German Navies will lead Europe into a new age of submarine operations. During the joint development process, the boat’s stealth properties were significantly improved and with the new combat system ORCCA, situational awareness and networking with allied units will be made all the more efficient.
Apart from this, the fourth generation of fuel cell will be used for the first time in the HDW Class 212CD. Manufacturing will take place at Marine Systems’ new fuel cell production center which is currently under construction in Kiel. They convince with enormous advancements in the areas of availability, redundancy and stealth.
